Lina Faroussi

Lina Faroussi is a Toronto-based visual artist whose practice moves between expressionist figurative abstraction and abstracted landscapes and seascapes. Born in Latakia on the Mediterranean coast of Syria, and having lived in Greece, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Canada, her work is shaped by movement, memory and a deep connection to place.

Working primarily in acrylic, Lina builds layered surfaces using mixed media such as fabric, Japanese paper, clay, sand and photo transfers. Her paintings explore identity, transformation and the relationship between the visible world and our internal landscapes. Human figures often appear as symbolic, dreamlike presences, while her recent landscapes and seascapes transform water, stone and shifting horizons into spaces of reflection.

Lina has exhibited throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Her work has received international awards and has been featured in numerous art books and publications.
